The event will be hosted and headquartered at The Steamboat Landing Restaurant and Bar, 76 Shore Road, Glen Cove, New York, which is in Hempstead Harbor on the North Shore of Long island. We will use the same format as our past runs, which is a Friday evening party, a Saturday noon-time run, and a Saturday afternoon Awards' Party.

The course will be 75 miles in length, transversing Long Island Sound. Upon returning to Hempstead Harbor, a designated boat will have radar guns on it to determine speeds of all crafts that wake a pass by it.

The Race

The pace boat will display a YELLOW FLAG and will lead the fleet to the 12 o'clock start by taking the statboard lane. The helicopter will stay with the pace boat until the GREEN FLAG is displayed at which time the fleet may pass the paceboat. Please stay behind the paceboat until the GREEN FLAG is displayed.

The first checkpoint is Dolfin Cove Restaurant in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The second checkpoint is the Albin Trawler anchored in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. The third checkpoint boat will be located east of Matinecock Point, then the RADAR BOAT on the way into Heampstead Harbor. The finish is at Steamboat Landing and Restaurant.

Ticketeers are only on station for two hours. If you break-down, just return to the harbor and we will give you courtesy drawn cards to help you finish. You must return and turn in your hand by 5 PM. The awards party will begin at 2 PM and the presentations will be at 5:30 PM.;

Awards

Various trophies will be given out for the Fastest Cat, Fastest V-Bottom, Fastest Outboard Boat, and more.

Dont Forget!

our annual "Brunch Run" will take place on Sunday, October 14th at noon time. We will gather outside of Port Washington and travel down the East River, up the Hudson River, and return on the Harlem River-then back to LaMotta's Restaurant for a superb brunch...and a lot of "stories" from the day. There is no entry fee for this event, just call to confirm so we do not leave with out you.

So as I gather up all the engine parts that are in my bilge and slip another motor into my boat ... I am sure I am not alone in getting ready for the 2nd half of our season for 2001.

I look forward to seeing you ... ON THE WATER!
