New York City Powerboat Poker Run June 14, 2014

Immediate Release:

New York City Powerboat Poker Run RECAP
Hudson River
June 15, 2014

After stormy weather all week long, Saturday, the event date, was the 1st decent day. Participants came from Cape Cod, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Long Island, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.
Liberty Landing Marina hosted and co-sponsored the event and their staff provided excellent hospitality for all players.
The 75 mile run on the Hudson River, started at the Statue of Liberty and took us past Manhattan, under the George Washington Bridge, through the new construction zone of the Tappan Zee Bridge (where Obama gave his speech 2 weeks ago), and as far north as Peekskill, NY. We had a lunch stop at the Hudson Water Club in West Haverstraw, NY
and then returned to Liberty Landing Marina, for the awards.

The King of the V-Bottoms was Steve Barker in his 43 Nor-Tech with 1075 HP Mercs running over 100 mph.

The Best Looking Crew went to a newcomer on the poker run circuit, but certainly a veteran offshore race champion,
Ron Teneyck and Chris Teneyck in his 38 Cigarette Top Gun with 600 HP Mercs.

The Best Looking Boat Trophy went to Chris Ryder in his Ilmor Powered 32 Skater with Billy Carroll as pilot!

Roger Lurochelle came down from New Hampshire in his 32 Baja to experience the New York run.

Chris Lamorte from New Jersey participated in his first NPBA event in his speedy 36 Skater.

Glenn Matz and family from Pennsylvania enjoyed their 1st poker run in his 29 Formula.

Mark Cali and crew ran at the front of the V-Bottom pack in his 39 Outerlimits, ‘No Discipline”

Rich Koehl in his 42 Cigarette Tiger.

Frank Lovato and family from New Jersey played hard in their ‘supercharged’ Formula at their 1st NPBA Poker run.

Chris Elsner and friends returned this year with his classic 37 Aronow, powered by US 1 Performance Marine engines.

I ran the 35 Marlago CC as the Paceboat (orange) with twin Merc 250 Outboards, sponsored by Arroway Jeep/Chrysler of Katonah, NY...very handy, she has a lot of fishing rod holders to hold all of our parade and start flags.
